Gloria Reuben is an actress and singer whose credits span television, film, theater and music.
Gloria began playing classical piano at the age of five. Music has been a mainstay in her life ever since. One of the biggest moments in her music career was being a backup singer for Tina Turner in Ms. Turner’s 2000 tour “24/7”, which led Gloria to record her solo record JUST FOR YOU. She released her debut jazz album PERCHANCE TO DREAM in 2015, produced by the five time Grammy Award winning producer Marty Ashby, on the iconic MCG Jazz label. In the wake it’s successes, Gloria teamed up with Marty once again for the duo’s soon to be released album titled FOR ALL WE KNOW.
“A truly beautiful album from start to finish . . . amazing playing by phenomenal musicians, great selection of material . . . but it’s Gloria’s elegant, refined voice that holds the listener. So intimate and present, she’s able to paint amazing pictures with her interpretations for these classic songs.”—Dave Koz on Perchance to Dream
Many will remember Gloria as “Jeanie Boulet” on the hit NBC series ER, a role that garnered her two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. Since then, Gloria has had multiple regular starring roles in a variety of television series including THE BLACKLIST, BLINDSPOT, RAISING THE BAR and FALLING SKIES. Gloria currently co-stars in the hit USA Network series MR. ROBOT, Marvel’s CLOAK AND DAGGER on Freeform and has a recurring role on the edgy new SHOWTIME series CITY ON A HILL.
In film, Gloria portrayed “Elizabeth Keckley” alongside Daniel Day-Lewis & Sally Field in Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN, appeared alongside Paul Rudd and Tina Fey in Paul Weitz’s ADMISSION, and starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson in REASONABLE DOUBT.
Gloria’s portrayal of Condoleezza Rice in David Hare’s play STUFF HAPPENS at The Public Theater in NYC, garnered her a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actress.
Back to Gloria’s first love, music:
As All About Jazz wrote, “Though the actress/singer is more well-known as an actress, she could have just as easily broken through as a singer. This CD [Perchance to Dream] will definitely cause music fans to reconsider their thinking regarding Gloria Reuben. They will now be forced to consider her as more than just a famous actress who sometimes sings.”
